Description:
Proglutamine, the first known gastrin antagonist, and benzotript are both glutaramicacid derivatives. Proglumide, also a racemic compound, is called (±) -5-dipropylamino-4-benzoylamino-5-oxo-pentanoic acid, English name proglumide, listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2000 edition of the second part of page 96Chemicalbook, as the antagonist of gastin receptor. The chemical structure is similar to the terminal chemical structure of gastrin (G-17) and cholecystokinin (CCK). Its functional group amides specifically compete with gastrin for gastrin receptors on parietal cells, and thus can significantly inhibit the secretion of gastric acid and pepsin induced by gastrin, but have no obvious effect on the secretion of gastric acid induced by histamine and vagus nerve stimulation.
Function:
1.It is an antagonist of gastrin receptor, which can protect gastric mucosa and promote ulcer healing.
2.For gastric and duodenal ulcer, gastritis (such as chronic superficial gastritis) and duodenal bulb inflammation.
3.Proglumide has been evaluated in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease, postoperative pain, Huntington's chorea, schizophrenia, gastric carcinoma, and colorectal carcinoma.
